HARARE – Premier Soccer League (PSL) newcomers Scottland continued their remarkable debut-season run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chicken Inn, a result that sees them stretch their lead at the top of the table as the 2025 campaign enters its final stretch.
In-form forward Tymon Machope was once again the hero of the day for Mabviravira, striking as early as the 6th minute to give them a vital advantage.
Despite spirited resistance from Chicken Inn, Scottland held onto their slender lead for the remainder of the match, demonstrating the grit and organisation that has made them title contenders in their maiden PSL season.
The victory takes the star studded Scottland to four points clear at the summit after 30 matches played.
However, second-placed Simba Bhora remain firmly in the race.
They tail by four points, with two matches in hand that could prove decisive in the title run-in.
If Simba Bhora win both of their outstanding fixtures, they will reclaim top spot and pile pressure back on the newcomers.
Simba Bhora’s immediate test comes tomorrow (Saturday) when they host relegation-threatened CAPS United at their fortress, Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva.
With survival at stake for Makepekepe and the championship race intensifying, the clash promises to be a tricky one for the title chasers.
Scottland, meanwhile, will be buoyed by their recent form and the knowledge that every point now counts as they aim to complete one of the most memorable debut seasons in Zimbabwean top-flight football history.
