SCOTLAND – The self-styled African tribe ‘Kingdom of Kubala’ has maintained their stance that no one will be able to remove them from a Scottish Forest, claiming it has been given to them by God.
The African tribe of three individuals led by Ghanaian Kofi Offeh now King Atehene and Zimbabwean- born Jean Gasho now Queen Nandi of the North together with American Kaura Taylor, who now identifies Asnat has been facing opposition from the Scottish Borders Council over illegal occupation of land.
The Scottish Borders Council has launched a fresh bid of eviction after the tribe decided to move only 20 feet from the previous camping spot, which they got evicted from.
Speaking in a video captured by the BBC, King Atehene of the Kubala Kingdom said that, “all nations belong to the kingdom of Kubala, all land belong to the kingdom of Kubala for it was given to us by the creator of the heavens and the earth, and we dwell safely wherever we choose to be.”

It appears the so-called Kingdom of Kubala is really enjoying all the attention they are getting from the media.
This is evidenced by the series of posts made by Jean Gasho on her Facebook as she claimed ‘Kubala is strong… Kubala can never be destroyed’ whilst reacting to news that a Scottish councillor has told members of the community not to help this tribe with anything.
She posted a video bragging that regardless of the calls made to the community by the councillor not to help them, they still get gifts from well-wishers.
She captioned the video, saying, “As the councillor pleads with Jedburgh community not to be kind or help Kubala, more gifts have come to Kubala! As they called FIRE services on Kubala, Yahowah stirred the hearts of well-wishers, and a new fire pit was brought to Kubala.
“Gifts of expensive Jasmine essential oil and a hosho have come to Kubala this evening, with more food. Yahowah has come to Kubala this evening, with more food. Yahowah is the gift that keeps on giving. Nobody can stop Kubala because Kubala is strong.”

Before moving into the forest, Jean and Kofi were formally charged with child cruelty. The couple was remanded in custody in 2024 but was later released.
This came after police and child agencies were called to investigate circumstances at the couple’s flat in Stockton.
These charges were later dropped earlier this year. However, their children still remain under Child Protection Services.
Jean or Queen Nandi, as she calls herself, has always claimed to have been a spiritual person. She claims her father was the ‘Great Spirit Medium’ Chief Never Gasho.
“Zimbabweans your Queen commands you to rise up, for muzukuru waNever Gasho CHAKA.
“I shall tell you all a chant to do on Sunday night into Monday morning where I shall meet the bull by the horns, and will be in a spiritual trace possessed by the great ancestor Never Gasho,” read one of her posts, posted on Facebook in 2023.

This is where Bishop Maponga is headed, to live in the forest in the name of awakening.
