HARARE – The Zimbabwe Warriors have begun arriving in camp ahead of their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda scheduled for September 5 and 9, respectively.
An update from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) on Sunday evening confirmed that Godknows Murwira, Walter Musona, Martin Mapisa, Emmanuel Jalai, Terrence Dzvukamanja and ZIFA officials, traveled overnight and have arrived in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Like Zimbabwe, Benin currently does not have a CAF-approved stadium to host international matches, prompting them to adopt Cote d’Ivoire’s stadium as their temporary home ground.
Meanwhile, ZIFA also confirmed that Knowledge Musona, along with South Africa-based quartet of Divine Lunga, Elvis Chipezeze, Washington Arubi and Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, are expected to arrive in Abidjan on Monday afternoon.
Two squad changes have been made by Warriors head coach Michael Nees.
Tymon Machope has been called up to replace Jonah Fabisch, who suffered a concussion at his club last week and did not pass a medical clearance.
Additionally, Tivonge Rushesha comes in for Sean Fusire, with ZIFA saying Fusire “made demands whose financial implications the association could not fulfill.”
The remainder of the Warriors squad is expected to be in camp by Wednesday.
