Dynamos slapped with FIFA ban for failing to pay US$18,500 to ex-Ghanaian players
HARARE – Struggling Harare giants Dynamos have been slapped with a FIFA-imposed transfer ban after failing to pay outstanding salaries and bonuses owed to their former Ghanaian players, Emmanuel Paga and Frederick Ansah Botchway.
The club owes the duo a total of US$18,500, US$8,500 to Paga and US$10,000 to Botchway.
As a result, Dynamos are now barred from registering any new players during the upcoming June transfer window unless they settle the outstanding debt.
This development comes as a major blow to newly appointed head coach Saul Chaminuka, who had expressed his desire to bolster the squad, particularly in attack.
“One area that we may also look into is to add new players. Obviously, we will add one or two players. We want to add more depth in attack,” said Chaminuka after their recent 1-1 draw with CAPS United.
Dynamos’ predicament mirrors that of their rivals, Highlanders, who were also handed a FIFA transfer ban a few months ago for failing to pay ex-coaches Antonio Torres and Baltemar Brito their dues.
However, the Bulawayo giants were bailed out by controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who publicly pledged to settle the debt.
Within days, Chivayo paid the amount, and Bosso were cleared by FIFA.
