Police arrest robbers who stole cash and valuables worth US$90k at Kirsty Coventry’s parents’ house
HARARE – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested two armed robbers, John and Mike Nongwe who are brothers, in connection with the robbery that took place at Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry’s parents’ house in Harare on March 10.
The Nongwe brothers raided Coventry’s parents Robert Edwin and Lyn Coventry at their Glen Lorne home and tied their hands and legs with shoelaces.
It was before they ransacked their home, stole cash and valuables.
Armed with guns, the two stole $15,000 cash, jewellery worth US$60,000, three hair dryers, Coventry’s Olympic swimsuits, travelling bags, hearing aids valued at US$5,000 and three hunting firearms.
According to reports, the robbers were arrested and were set to appear in court today (Friday).
The duo is reportedly being charged over the home invasion, with law enforcement sources revealing this to ZimLive.
The publication also reported that “Police have recovered some of the stolen items”.
