The three could be disqualified from contesting in the poll if they fail the crucial eligibility vetting process due to the alleged ongoing court cases.

ZIFA’s regulations demand candidates to be free from “pending civil, criminal, or disciplinary proceedings or investigations.”

Football stakeholders have written to ZIFA and the Sports and Recreation Committee (SRC) raising concerns about Magaya, Machana and Kweza’s nominations as the three are among 10 potential candidates who submitted their papers last Wednesday.

Magaya is allegedly accused of multiple pending legal cases and past convictions including tax evasion charges, asset forfeiture investigation and conviction under the Medicines Control Act.

In 2018, Magaya was fined US$700 for advertising a false HIV/AIDS cure, endangering public health.

Machana, an ex-ZIFA board member is accused of abusing public funds from FIFA during his tenure under the Felton Kamambo led board.

He is accused of stealing a grant close to US$1 million after the money was allegedly transferred to Conduit Investments, a company he owned.

The move is in violation of the FIFA and ZIFA statutes.

Meanwhile, Kweza is accused of work related criminal abuse of office and fraud allegations following the Scottland FC and Karoi United case.
