Former Chicken Inn players goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze and forward Edmore Chirambadare etched their names in South African football history.
It comes after they helped Magesi FC to clinch a historic Carling Black Label Cup after beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 at the Free State Stadium on Saturday.
Chipezeze and Chirambadare were instrumental in the comeback victory that arguably shocked many.
Chipezeze made crucial saves throughout the match, particularly in the opening 25 minutes.
Chirambadare provided an assist in their equaliser and contributed to the build up of the winning goal.
Chipezeze’s exceptional performance earned him the Man of the Match award for the fourth consecutive time.
All the four awards netted him a total of R400,000 in prize money in a space of one month
Chipezeze’s outstanding performances have left a number of Zimbabwean football fans backing him to return to the Warriors fold.
Nehanda Radio broke the story that the 34-year-old shot-stopper is ready to don the national team jersey once again after being overlooked.
In an interview, the Polokwane based goalie said: “I would love to play for the national team again. Why would I turn down such an opportunity? I still want to represent my nation.”
Chipezeze last played for the Warriors in 2021 away to Algeria in the AFCON qualifiers.
