Prominent Zimbabwean businessman Kuda Tagwirei has dismissed recent speculation linking him to a potential takeover of the new Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, Kwekwe United.
Rumours had been circulating in the football circles that the Sakunda Holdings owner was interested in acquiring the Kwekwe based club.
However, in an interview with Nehanda Radio, Tagwirei dismissed the rumours.
Responding to question sent to him by this reporter, he said: “(It is) Not true.”
A section of the Zimbabwean football community, were believing the rumour since of late, Tagwirei has been involved in football.
Tagwirei has been linked to significant investments in Zimbabwean football.
In recent years, his company Sakunda Holdings has been a principal sponsor of giants Highlanders and Dynamos.
The sponsorship deal ran from 2021 to 2023.
Despite the formal sponsorship deal ending, Sakunda continues to provide financial assistance to both clubs.
Apart from sponsoring Bosso and DeMbare, last year, Tagwirei wanted to take out a lease of Rufaro Stadium.
He expressed his interest in renovating the stadium with those close to him saying he wanted to revamp it into a world class facility that would be allowed to host international matches.
In 2023, Sakunda was reportedly assisting Black Rhinos financially as well as providing the army side with fuel before its demotion from the PSL.
