Fresh concerns have been raised about the life of music producer Bongani Fassie, the son of the late South African music legend Brenda Fassie, after he reportedly held five women hostage after a wild night out.

Bongani, who has been accused of abusing harmful substances in the past, reportedly caused chaos at a posh estate in Fourways, Johannesburg, after he refused to let the women leave his house.

According to security personnel at the estate, Fassie refused to let the women leave as he coveted one of them.

“These young ladies wanted to go back to their homes but Bongani refused to release them because he wanted one of them,” a security officer told Zimoja.

“He said they should stay but the girls refused to stay over because they had to go to work today. That’s when he started to get aggressive.”

As the situation evolved, Fassie reportedly became more and more violent towards his guests.

“Things got wild there. He was yelling at them and threatening them with violence while he was name-dropping his late mother’s name, Brenda Fassie,” said an eyewitness.

Fassie allegedly did not discriminate in his violent outburst, as he even began assaulting his friends.

“He was also pushing and pulling his friends, who could only watch as he became more violent. One of the ladies who stays opposite him had to request a ride for the ladies while the security staff was trying to calm him down,” said the source.

According to the source, the incident took place in front of Bongani’s children’s, who were distraught at their father’s behaviour.

“He was telling us we can’t help him if we can’t bring his mother back to earth,” said the source.

The welfare of the children has reportedly become a concern as they sometimes do not attend school and are exposed to their father’s outbursts.

“Everyone at the estate knows that those kids do not go to school. There are always parties and dodgy people coming in and out of his house. We were scared for the kids. His family members must do something before something worse happens,” pleaded the informant.
