The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has expressed deep sorrow following the untimely passing of Sihlangu Dlodlo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Highlanders Football Club.
Dlodlo, aged 60, was found dead at his home in Nketa 9 in Bulawayo on Monday.
In a statement, ZIFA conveyed their condolences to Dlodlo’s family, friends, and the entire Highlanders community.
“It is with profound sorrow that we extend our heartfelt condolences on the sudden and unexpected passing of Mr Sihlangu Dlodlo,” ZIFA wrote.
“His departure leaves an irreplaceable void not only in Highlanders Football Club but also within the entire Zimbabwean football family.
“During this time of sorrow, we stand in solidarity with his family, friends, and the Highlanders community.
“We hope that the many cherished memories of Mr Dlodlo will bring comfort, and may his remarkable impact on the game serve as a beacon for future generations. Our deepest sympathies are with you all.”
Dlodlo assumed the role of Highlanders CEO in April 2023, replacing Ronald Moyo.
His family stays in the United Kingdom.
Police said they are investigating circumstances that led to his death.
It is believed that Dlodlo might have committed suicide following his Facebook post on the 16th of October that reads as a suicide note.
On October 16, Dlodlo posted the following message on his Facebook page.
“A nice way to end the drama and nonsense that happens at funerals is to die alone at home and rot for a week or so until the neighbours see green flies by the windows; and the police arrive to recover your remains in a zinc coffin and open truck and take you, hopefully to Kings and Queens. That way there will be no body viewing. It’s straight to Luveve Cemetery. By the way, please don’t bring flowers sweethearts.”

Rest in peace Malume
