HARARE – Albun Fitness founder Alois Bunjira has taken to his social media platforms to announce that they have again partnered with NetOne for the upcoming marathon scheduled for 23 November in Honde Valley.
The launch of the partnership was held at Centurion Pub and Grill at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
This will be the second edition of the Honde Valley Marathon following the inaugural race in 2023 which was attended by 356 athletes.
Bunjira, a former CAPS United forward is expecting a high turn out for this year’s edition.
“This year is our second edition of the marathon. I should say that we had great success in holding the marathon last year in Honde Valley. We had 356 athletes from the anticipated 100.
“We are hoping we are going to get double that number this year because we were very successful last year,” he said.
“At the finishing point, we are going to have a business exhibition. All the companies that are partnering us will have their stands where they will be exhibiting their companies and their products. We expect that everybody who is partnering with us will be there at the end.”
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man is confident this year’s marathon event is going to be ‘much bigger’
“I am very confident that this year’s marathon is going to be much, much bigger than last year because we’ve done our homework. We made some mistakes last year. We have closed those gaps (this time around).”
Netone representative Tino Mukuchana went on to speak about their partnership with Albun Fitness.
“Their corporate citizenship dictates that we respond to our duty to transform and improve livelihoods by ensuring that the business uses the environment responsibly so that future generations have a clean and safe environment,” said Mukuchana.
Apart from Netone, companies such as CAG Travelling Coaches, 4 May, First Mutual Micro Finance, Nepro Air, National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe, Humphrey Lodges, Valley Lodges, Eastern Highlands Tea Estate, Palm Lodges and Priority Projects have partnered Albun Fitness for the event.
