‘We are here because my mother is sleeping with Ras Pompy’ – court told

Zimdancehall chanter Ras Pompey has found himself in a family dispute that has turned violent, after he reportedly slept with the mother of one of his friends who, during a confrontation with her, stabbed his uncle.

Wesley Eroyi Shoniwa of Mbare reportedly stabbed his uncle, after he confronted him about harassing his mother.

Shoniwa appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa facing attempted murder charges.

Asked to narrate his version of events, Shoniwa claimed he had been infuriated by Ras Pompey’s actions, leading to a confrontation with his mother. He said when his uncle intervened he had stabbed him in an act of rage.

“We are here because my mother is sleeping with Ras Pompy, how can she sleep with someone of my age when she can easily find someone her age to sleep with?

“Everyone in the (neighbour) hood has been laughing at me over this issue because her boyfriend is my friend and is way younger than my mother so when my uncle asked me about it is taking her side, I was infuriated and stabbed him,” he said.

Shoniwa reportedly stabbed his uncle on the shoulder. The case continues.
