UNITED KINGDOM – Zimbabwean international Marvelous Nakamba on Tuesday evening, finally returned to the pitch after an eight month absence due to a knee injury.
The former Aston Villa midfielder was in the starting lineup for Luton Town in their disappointing Carabao Cup defeat to QPR after a penalty shootout.
Nakamba who sustained a serious knee injury in December 2023, only played the first half of the game before being subbed off at half time.
Despite gaining full recovery, the 29-year old will miss the upcoming AFCON qualifiers when Zimbabwe play Kenya and Cameroon respectively.
The two matches are scheduled for 6 and 10 September at the National Mandela Stadium in Uganda.
Due to the injury, the Warriors captain also missed the World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and South Africa in June.
Before his injury, he played the opening World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Nigeria in November 2023.
It is during those games that Nakamba was named the Warriors captain by then coach Baltemar Brito before his contract expired in December 2023.
