HARARE – French based Zimbabwe national team striker Tino Kadewere has donated a sets of kits and footballs to his former school Prince Edward High in Harare.
The 28-year old donated the equipment through his Kadewere Foundation.
According to H-Metro, Kadewere donated two kits comprising a full 25-playing set, a training kit, FIFA certified match balls and a first aid kit box.
Kadewere’s brother Prosper, who is the chairman of the charity organisation said the gesture was made as a token of appreciation for following the critical role that was played by Prince Edward High in the career of the lanky forward.
“We are very much appreciative of the role the school played in the grooming of Tino,” said Prosper Kadewere.
He added: “Tino is an individual who always appreciates his background and upbringing. He always makes efforts to honour all those who took part in his grooming.
“It is only prudent for him, through the Kadewere Foundation, that we come in, making donations like these.”
Prince Edward High teacher and soccer coach, Norman Taruvinga who once coached Tino, expressed his gratitude.
Taruvinga who was the head coach of the Zimbabwe U-15 side during the CAF Schools Championship last year in December, said the donation will go a long way in helping budding footballers to see their dreams come true.
He also indicated that Tino’s gesture will inspire the young boys.
“Our boys will be inspired to reach the same greater heights as Tino did, or even surpass him as they are coming through the same systems.”
