Zimbabwean players in Warriors left back Divine Lunga, ex-Warriors players Elvis Chipezeze and Edmore Chirambadare as well as unheralded defender Albert Nkosana raised the country’s flag high recently.

It comes after they all secured prestigious league titles with their respective clubs last week.

Lunga won his second championship in the DStv Premiership with Mamelodi Sundowns, while Chipezeze and Chirambadare helped Magesi FC to gain promotion to South African top flight league.

Nkosana whose name is not popular in newspapers but could start to appear frequently now, also achieved a remarkable feet across the border.

The former Telone, Bulawayo City, Tenax FC defender helped Eswatini Premier League giants Mbabane Swallows to win the league title.

The 28-year old etched his name into the history books of the Eswatini top flight league by becoming one of the few Zimbabwean players to win the championship in that country.

Then Chipezeze and Chirambadare made a return to the South African top flight league with new boys Magesi FC, a dream come true for the former Chicken Inn players.

Magesi’s automatic promotion was confirmed last weekend.

This was after the University of Pretoria who were also chasing the sole ticket, drew 2-2 with Black Leopards, leaving Magesi leading the pack by eight points with two matches left.

“We are the champions,” Chipezeze, the ex-Baroka FC goalkeeper posted on Facebook celebrating the promotion.

Hs fellow countrymen and teammate, Chirambadare also took to Facebook to celebrate the triumph with a biblical quote.

“When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen. Isaiah 60:22,” he wrote.

Lunga who joined Sundowns in 2022 and won his first league title with the club during his debut season, also took to his social media platforms to celebrate his second championship.

“We are the champions, (Mamelodi) Sundowns FC,” read his caption accompanied by several pictures of him and his teammates on Facebook.

Meanwhile, it’s not the same for Turkey based Teenage Hadebe, England based Marvelous Nakamba and Italy based Jordan Zemura whose clubs are facing relegation.

France based Tino Kadewere’s Nantes who were also facing relegation, survived demotion at the weekend.
