Zemura threatens to quit Warriors; questions Mapeza’s coaching style

Italy based Zimbabwe Warriors left back Jordan Zemura has reportedly questioned FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza’s coaching style and ‘unprofessionalism’.

Mapeza was in charge of the national team on an interim basis recently in a Four Team tournament that was won by Kenya after beating Zimbabwe 3-1 at Bingu Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi.

According to H-Metro, Zemura who was part of the foreign based players called up for the tournament in preparation of the 2026 World Cup qualifies in June, claims Mapeza should improve on player management.

The state owned tabloid reports that the former AFC Bournemouth defender could ‘temporarily quit’ the Warriors: “if coach Norman Mapeza doesn’t change his treatment of players born in England and also improve his player management style”.

Zemura who is currently playing for Serie A side Udinese Calcio claims they “were subjected to “military style” physical sessions and there was general “unprofessionalism” in camp”.

A source that spoke to H-Metro went on to say: “Jordan is no longer coming for any future Zimbabwe national team matches as long as Mapeza is the coach. He will be unavailable.

“There is a fierce war from the coach to frustrate the Europe born-and-bred players and Zemura has decided to stand up against that.

“This is something he has kept close to his chest because he is a patient and quiet guy but he can’t keep on putting a lid on something that has serious repercussions on national sport.”

It is reported that Mapeza “would wake players up as early as 6am and take them into very rigorous practice sessions with no recovery plan for the next match day”.

Mapeza doesn’t have good player management skills…he once fought with his captain on the field of play imagine…he left chippa united after losing the changing room..Zifa decision to appoint this guy was not spot om.. the guy is just an avarage coach, he doesn’t have anything special…he coached fc platinum in caf champions league and they were the whipping boys…you could see that the coach lacks certain technical aspects to improve the team and players
