Highly rated Zimbabwean teenage star Trey Nyoni finally made his senior team debut for Liverpool, coming on as a second half substitute in their 3-0 win over Southampton in a FA Cup tie played on Wednesday night at Anfield.
The 16-year-old was thrown into the fray in the final 12 minutes, replacing Harvey Elliot to become Liverpool’s youngest player ever to appear in the FA Cup.
“A memorable moment as Trey Nyoni makes his Reds debut and becomes our youngest ever player in the FA Cup,” wrote the club on its social media platforms celebrating Nyoni’s debut.
The debut comes three days after the talented youngster won his first medal with Liverpool following his inclusion in the Carabao Cup winning team that defeated Chelsea 1-0 last Sunday.

Nyoni is an attacking midfielder who signed for Liverpool from Leicester City in September 2023.
He started with the Reds’ U-18s where he scored on his debut and also played for the club’s U-21s.
This was before finding himself in the Reds’ senior team after catching the eye of manager Jurgen Klopp.
Born in the UK to Zimbabwean parents, Nyoni is eligible to play for the Zimbabwe Warriors although he has represented England in the U16 side where he also scored and assisted on his debut against Italy.
