Promising Zimbabwean youngster, Trey Nyoni, could be set for his Liverpool senior team debut on Wednesday against Southampton in the FA Cup.
Mail Sport Merseyside football reporter Lewis Steele revealed on his X account on Tuesday.
“Trey Nyoni is in line to make his Liverpool debut against Southampton on Wednesday,” posted Steele.
The 16-year-old academy graduate was part of Liverpool’s squad that clinched the Carabao Cup against Chelsea on Sunday at the Wembley Stadium.
However, he remained an unused substitute during the match which ended 1-0 after the Reds’ captain Virgil Van Dijk scored a last minute winner.
Nyoni who is among youngsters that have caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp, joined the Liverpool academy in September 2023 from Leicester City.
He has been splendid playing for the U-21s, resulting in Klopp naming him in his match day squads regularly.
The Zimbabwe Warriors prospect who has a bright future, was described as a “talented midfielder” by renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“Done, completed. Talented midfielder born in 2006 Trey Nyoni joins Liverpool from Leicester,” said Romano upon the 16-year-old forward’s arrival at Anfield.
