Former Simba Bhora striker Tinashe Balakasi opened his scoring account for Orapa United when they drew 1-1 with Tafic FC in Botswana’s top flight league at Itekeng Stadium on Saturday.

The Simba Bhora all-time top scorer with over 70 goals, scored just after the half hour mark to put Orapa in front.

However, the lead did not last long as on loan striker Onkabetse Makgantai equalised for Tafic two minutes after.

Nicknamed Maswera Sei, Balakasi joined the Ostriches at the end of last month (January) on a one-year-deal.

It was after he found himself deemed surplus to requirements by coach Tonderai Ndiraya who embarked on a squad overhaul ahead of the 2024 season.

The 32-year-old former CAPS United striker was shown the exit door despite finding the net 10 times to help Simba Bhora survive relegation last season.

At Orapa, he joined his compatriots in Anelka Chivandire and Tapiwa Nyamanjiva.
