Wadi leads top goal scorers chart in SA after grabbing brace vs TTM

Former CAPS United, FC Platinum and Bulawayo City forward Ishmael Wadi is enjoying his form in South Africa’s second-tier division league, the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

It comes after the 30-year-old forward is continuing to find the back of the net week in week out for JDR Stars who are also nicknamed the Hammer Boys.

The speedy forward is now leading the league’s top goal scorers chart with eight goals in his name.

Since the return of the league from the World Cup break few weeks ago, Wadi has scored three times.

Firstly, he netted last week when his solitary strike helped JDR Stars to a narrow 1-0 victory over Pretoria Callies.

Then yesterday (Sunday) he was again on the score sheet, scoring twice in both halves as the Hammer Boys ran riot over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila with a heavy 5-0 victory.

Wadi who was with the Warriors at the Afcon tournament in Cameroon last year in January, has been impressive for JDR Stars since joining the club in 2021 from the Green Machine (CAPS).

Last season, he was also in contention for the golden boot award although he lost the race to Malawian international and Polokwane City star Khuda Myaba.
