I am not feeling the pressure: Byo Chiefs coach Nilton Terroso

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Bulawayo Chiefs’ head coach Nilton Terroso has insisted he is not under pressure despite his team’s continued string of poor results.

His remarks comes after the Ninjas have gone for seven successive league games without tasting victory with their latest result being a 1-1 draw against Ngezi Platinum Stars on Sunday.

Chiefs who had a good start to the season, last won a league match on 13 February when they impressively beat the reigning champions FC Platinum.

It was goals from Mthokozisi Msebe and Obriel Chirinda that handed Chiefs a 2-0 win over Platinum at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo a day before Valentines Day.

However, since then, things now appear not to be favouring the Portuguese gaffer Terroso and his charges.

They are yet to register a win since their resounding victory over the Zvishavane based premier league outfit two months ago.

The worrying situation is believed to have resulted in the sacking of Terroso’s assistants Mark Mathe and Farai Tawachera who were shown the exit door by the club hierarchy last week.

Then asked if he thinks his (Terroso) job is still safe following the team’s winless streak, the 43-year-old former Cardiff City assistant said: “I don’t control that side of it but to be honest I don’t feel the pressure.”

“I want to focus on my responsibilities that is to get the team play better. In terms of pressure, no, I am not feeling the pressure.

“As long as I have the players wanting to play for me and with the club supporting me then I am fine with what I am doing.”

Chiefs could have ended their winless run on Sunday when they played to a 1-1 draw with the Benjani Mwaruwari’s coached side Ngezi Platinum Stars at Luveve Stadium.

Also known as the Twitter Boys, Chiefs gave away their lead with only six minutes left to final whistle.

It was Denver Mukamba who denied the home team the win when his 84th minute right footed tap in from close range cancelled Chirinda’s first half goal which came through a penalty.

Following the draw, Chiefs are now sat on 12th position on the table with 10 points from 10 games.

And from the 10 games they have played so far the Bulawayo based side has managed two wins, four defeats and four draws. Nehanda Radio
