Newcastle United set sights on signing Aston Villa star Nakamba in January

Saudi-Arabian owned English Premier League side, Newcastle United are once again reportedly chasing the signature of Warriors international midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba (27), UK publication Football Insider has revealed.

Newcastle wanted to secure Nakamba’s signature in the summer, as a deadline day signing, but Villa seemed reluctant to to sell the Hwange born star.

According to the football site, sources at Newcastle disclosed that the new owners are planning to strength their squad in the upcoming January transfer window.

And Villa’s holding midfielder, Nakamba has been identified by the new owners as one of the club’s top priority signing who will bring a suitable solution in the midfield.

Nakamba joined The Claret and Blue in the summer of 2019 from Belgian side Club Brugge, for a fee of around £11 million.

So far, he has made 57 appearance for the Dean Smith coached side and his contract with the EPL side runs till 2024.

The former Bantu Rovers player has only managed seven appearances this season.

Out of seven games he has started one, that is Villa’s season opener against Watford.

Apart from the Magpies, in the last summer, Crystal Palace and Spanish topflight side Valencia were reportedly interested in the signature of the 27-year-old Zimbabwean midfielder. Nehanda Radio
