ZANU PF member of parliament for Mberengwa South Alum Mpofu ordered staff at Gwai Clinic to return bandages, beds and blankets which were donated by Tembi Dube who contested for position of councillor on a MDC- A ticket . Other goods that were rejected include chairs.

Our source confirmed that a top member of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) identified only as Mataga, ordered the clinic not to accept donations from known MDC-A members.

“Chairs and benches donated for use at the clinic were turned away. Nurses said they were instructed by Mataga not to accept donations from known MDC people and patients are sitting on rocks and the MP is rejecting donations of benches,”

Residents in Mberengwa have castigated the move saying that patients at the clinic do not have enough beds and blankets but the MP decides reject donated goods critical to the smooth operation of the clinic.

“We desperately need those items and our MP decides to send those things back because they were donated by someone who is not from his party,” said a Mberengwa South resident.

Mpofu and Mataga were both not available for comment by the time of publication on Friday.

Political analysts said Mpofu’s behaviour tarnishes the image of the party. ZimMorningPost
