Madzibaba Masango tragedy!

The children – two girls and a boy – aged 10, five and two.

Burial for the four is set for Mt Darwin today.

Madzibaba Masango’s wife – Chipo Mapako – was behind the wheel when her Mercedes Benz veered off the road near Surrey business centre, along Harare-Marondera road, killing her three children and a relative on spot.

She and two other passengers, were rushed to Marondera Hospital, where they received treatment.

They have since been transferred to Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

National police chief spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident saying investigations are in progress to ascertain the cause.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to confirm the death of four people in a road traffic accident near Surrey business centre along Mutare Road on Friday at around 2130hrs,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.

“The driver who was among the injured was reported to have failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle veered off the road killing four occupants on the spot and injuring three.

“Investigations are continuing to ascertain the cause of the accident and the injured were rushed to Marondera hospital.

“We are urging motorists to exercise extreme caution during this wet period and avoid speeding and overtaking on blind spots,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.

Madzibaba Masango was still to accept the mishap when contacted for comment.

Mourners are gathered at his house in Warren Park 1.

“My wife had gone to take our children from school in Rusape and the accident took place on their way back,” said Madzibaba Masango.

“It is painful and I cannot imagine that I have lost all my children. Ndarwadziswa handina chekutaura parizvino,” said Madzibaba Masango. H-Metro
