Former Zanu PF Mashonaland West chairperson Temba Mliswa has claimed that the ruling party’s national youth secretary Kudzanai Chipanga is his protégé.
Mliswa told the Daily News that he is the one who campaigned for Chipanga to be the deputy youth league secretary in 2014.
Then, Chipanga was linked to the former Vice President Joice Mujuru faction to which Mliswa also belonged to.
Speaking to the Daily News, Mliswa who recently outwitted his former party in the Norton by-election said the two warring Zanu PF factions — Team Lacoste and G40 — must not be surprised with his recent victory because he had done this before.
“I have always defeated both the Lacoste and G40 factions in Zanu PF. I did it in 2014 when I was in the Gamatox faction (Mujuru camp) and I campaigned for Chipanga to land the post of deputy youth league secretary beating (Zanu PF political commissar) Kasukuwere’s brother Tongai.”
Mliswa said the Zanu PF youth league must stop harassing Gokwe Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena after the youthful MP was photographed with him.
“Kasukuwere knows I have always outwitted him that is why it is outrageous for the youth league to claim that Wadyajena helped me simply because we were photographed together. I get photographed with several other MPs and does it mean they campaigned for me?
“Zanu PF lost because of poor strategies and don’t forget also that I was a very effective provincial chairperson. I can beat Zanu PF in any constituency in Mashonaland West province. They lost because they failed to deliver the 2, 2 million jobs they promised people, they failed because they are corrupt and have a leader who protects corrupt officials.”
However, in his response Chipanga savaged Mliswa saying the Norton MP has “lost his mind.”
“Ava kurwara (he has lost his mind) how can he claim he campaigned for me, he was not in the youth league. I don’t know about it maybe he was campaigning for me without my knowledge. If we had known that before he was expelled we would have charged him.” Daily News
