Bulawayo Metropolitan police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango said: “I can confirm that a haulage truck turned in front of oncoming traffic without giving way. A BMW vehicle crashed onto into the truck but no one was injured.” Miss Khoza escaped with minor scratches on one hand.

She told the Chronicle that she was still in shock and could not believe that she survived the accident.

“I had travelled all the way from Victoria Falls only to almost die in Bulawayo. I came with a friend and a Methodist Church Pastor whom I had just dropped at church in the city centre,” she said.

Miss Khoza said she was thankful to God for surviving the horrific accident.

“The truck suddenly turned ahead of me and although I tried hard to hold the emergency brakes, I still went underneath the truck,” she said.

When the Chronicle arrived at the scene, the truck driver, whose name could not be immediately established, insisted that he was stationary when the BMW rammed into his trailer. Chronicle
