Stop lying Mr. Mnangagwa

Must Try

It has come to my attention that Mr. Emerson Mnangagwa is busy lying about what their failed government is doing over Itai Dzamara’s disappearance and also the general status of human rights in Zimbabwe.

This man travelled all the way to Geneva so that he may lie to the world. He was so keen to travel that far in order to lie yet he can’t even engage the Dzamara family in Zimbabwe. That’s deplorable.

Mr. Mnangagwa stated that the government is working with the Dzamara family on Itai Dzamara’s disappearance while presenting a Human Rights report today. I wish to set the record straight.

First and foremost, Mnangagwa is a liar just like their gang leader, one Robert Mugabe.

Ever since Itai Dzamara’s disappearance, ZRP has failed to come up with a single lead and that has cemented our position of disbelief in their purported sincerity. I have always registered that they know what happened to Itai Dzamara and they are not acting in good faith.

I have never minced my words regarding the fingerprints of state security agents particularly the military intelligence in the abduction of Itai Dzamara, whose only crime was to openly exercise his constitutional right to oppose the failed ZANU PF led government.

The few times ZRP has presented reports, they were whitewashed and mere nonsense. I am taking Chihuri to court over that actually. We are not going to tire until we get to the bottom of this.

This ZANU PF led government is evil. They have never engaged or assisted the family in any way despite the several times we have tried to engage them formally through petitions etc. They virtually ignored us and I have been a victim of torture several times for asking about Itai. I am not sure whether that is the assistance this liar Mnangagwa is talking about.

Mugabe and his minions are a disgrace. They enjoy massive benefits for purportedly leading and represent the citizens. The taxpayers who fork out hard earned dollars to pay them, including myself, deserve better than such profligacy.

Bar the money, they took an oath, an oath to dutifully uphold the supreme law of this land, that dictates they protect any citizen, resident, or visitor of this country, that they see to it their rights are not violated, that should they be, as is the case with Itai, they will investigate, and extend the long arm of the law, to see to it that those responsible are removed from society.

Section 49 of the Constitution states that every person has the right to personal liberty, which includes the right not to be deprived of their liberty arbitrarily or without just cause. Furthermore, the Constitution grants Itai Dzamara and all Zimbabweans the right to personal security and protects them from all forms of violence from public or private sources.

To date, the ZANU PF led government has done virtually nothing to assist us as a family to at least unearth what happened to Itai and hopefully come to a place of closure. I have interacted with those tasked to investigate Itai’s matter from ZRP several times, including the former CID Law and Order department boss, Assistant Commissioner Makedenge and I have concluded that there is no sincerity on their part.

Itai Dzamara’s case is just a tip of the iceberg. So many Zimbabweans have had to endure the abuse of their rights under the auspices of the ZANU PF led government.

As though their indifferent posture is not enough, they want to lie to the world that the status of human rights in Zimbabwe has improved and yet they continue to preside over gross human rights violations. No, that’s unacceptable.

Those liars must fall.

Mugabe is often described in binaries: hero or villain, liberator or dictator. Both are true and yet neither is adequate. Because Mugabe was not only a political figure. He was also a psychological case study of something far more unsettling:

In this second and final part of the article, I continue to examine the potential outcomes of ZANU-PF’s succession politics, focusing on whether Kudakwashe Tagwirei (whom I metaphorically refer to as “Mamvura”) will succeed in his presumed bid for the presidency, whether General Constantino Chiwenga will recover his political standing and take over, whether someone else will ascend to the throne, and whether President Mnangagwa will ultimately retire in peace.
