Snapchat v Instagram: Celebrities are picking sides

Instagram launched a new feature called Instagram stories on Tuesday and it’s very similar to Snapchat.

The new feature lets users share a series of moments and then customise them with text, drawings and emoji icons.

Many people have commented on how similar it is to the Snapchat app.

Not denied by Instagram’s CEO, Kevin Systrom who’s said in an interview with Techcrunch that Snapchat “deserve all the credit”.

Now it’s finally been rolled out, celebrities have had a lot to say about the new update.

It seems the boys are more concerned than the girls.

Kevin Hart has posted his first few stories on Instagram.

He tells his nearly 40 million followers that he will embrace the new app.

Kevin calls himself a social media guru and believes that you can separate both of the worlds.

He goes on to say that he loves both the apps and likes that Instagram has given their users the extra option of posting stories.

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Charlie Sloth got in on the action quick and posted to his 150 thousand followers.

He said Instagram has no respect for Snapchat and weighs up which one is better.

He, however, still doesn’t know if he will stop using Snapchat.

Stormzy said he’s having difficulties adapting to the new update, he instructed his followers to just add him on Snapchat.

He thinks that Instagram is cheeky and shameless for copying Snapchat.

Then goes on to say that he might use the new feature from time to time.

Lethal Bizzle is staying loyal to Snapchat, he told his followers to add him on there.

He also wrote that Instagram did Snapchat dirty.

Chloe Mortez has posted her first Instagram story with a caption that says “R.I.P Snap”.

Meanwhile, in Chrissy Teigan’s first story she talks about what she’s watching while lying in bed with her husband John Legend.

Other celebs have been having a go on Insta’s new feature too including Zoella, Taylor Swift, Ciara, and Trey Songz.

The question that a lot of people have been asking is, will this new update be the death of Snapchat? It looks like we’ll just have to wait and see. BBC NewsBeat
