Dynamos coach Paulo Jorge Silva says the Glamour Boys may be left with no option but to release striker Takesure Chinyama when his contract expires during the mid-season window if the big forward does not shake off a nagging muscle injury.
The former Warriors player has been on and off since the club started their pre-season preparations last month and is now a major doubt for the early part of this year’s campaign.
Silva said they have asked the striker to be examined by the doctors after he had complained of a recurring muscle injury and it appears the Portuguese may not be able to stretch his patience beyond the July transfer window if there is no joy with the big forward’s fitness.
The coach, who has set a target of winning the title this year, will not take chances and has since indicated that Chinyama, just like all the players in the squad, will have to fight for his place in the team.
“Takesure is injured. Today he went to see the doctor again and I am waiting for the doctor to hear what’s really the problem because every day he’s feeling a burning sensation on his muscle. So I said to him it’s better to stop training than to continue pushing himself hard,” said Silva.
“But I have told him that, just like any other player, he has to fight for his place because if he is not fighting he will not stay in the team.
“Last week he trained two times and was complaining of the pain and I advised him to stop three-four days and then go see a doctor and let him have an examination and then see what it is.
“The problem is that his contract lasts until July and if he doesn’t recover well on time and is not playing, then he may not stay in the team.”
DeMbare are looking to beef up their strike-force and are tomorrow expecting two Brazilian forwards to complement the attacking line, which has Richard Kawondera, Kenneth Bulaji, Farai Mupasiri, Rodreck Mutuma and Chinyama.
Chinyama returned to Dynamos last year following a stint in South Africa where he played for Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars.
Silva said he does not have problems working with Chinyama despite a recent fallout at training.
“It’s not like the problem of discipline as you mentioned in the newspaper. It’s true what you said that he came late and I sent him out. We closed the gate on him and instructed the security not to allow anyone. The club charged him ticket money for that. But there is no problem with discipline,” said Silva.
Dynamos are looking forward to continue with their pre-season friendlies this Sunday when they host Whawha at Rufaro.
“It’s a training game and for me what’s important is not the result but I would want the boys to start to have trust for scoring goals.
Of course I want to win but most importantly at this moment it’s to get the team to improve every time,” said Silva. The Herald
