The musician took to the stage with zeal and excited thousands that attended the service with his new song “Double Double”.

The album which will be Mhere’s fifth and is set to be released on February 10 with a launch set for Rainbow Towers hotel on the day of the launch.

Mhere has already completed the album that has 10 tracks that include “Makorokoza Muchechi”, “Nhau yaNoah” and “Double Double”

In an interview, Mhere said the album is a continuation from his album “Glory to Glory”.

“As an artist I have learnt to create a lineage of my music story line and to keep up with that, ‘Double Double’ is a continuation from all my albums. I looked at how God moved us from glory to glory and got a revelation that the next thing is a double portioned blessing, hence the title”, he said.

Mhere has been on the rise since and has become one of the most active gospel artists on the local scene.

Last year he launched his album “Glory to Glory” at a colourful ceremony at Holiday Inn and prominent government officials and ministers attended the event.

He has promised a bigger event at the upcoming launch and said his fans should look forward to an exciting project.

In his New Year’s message the artiste wished his fans well. “God should help us this year by bringing home everything that was meant for us, his favour should let everything in our lives work according to his plan”, he said.

After Mathias Mhere’s performance, PHD leader Prophet Walter Magaya led his congregants into the candle lighting service where he made several declarations on the country’s economy, poverty, marriage which aligned with his 2016 theme of overflow and abundance. The Herald

Linus Kadzere: Celebrating the legacy of a lion-hearted Shumba in Leicester

0
By Thando Kanye In 2005, Linus “Lee” Kadzere booked Thomas Mapfumo to perform at The Athena, a venue in Leicester that had been closed for over a decade. The US-based Mukanya had only been in the UK for one gig, a birthday celebration, organised by Lee’s wife, Priscilla Kadzere. However, in the midst of his 40th birthday celebration, Lee had a lightbulb moment. Here was his favourite artiste, Mapfumo, performing in the UK for the first time in over three years. Why could he not entice him for more shows in the British Isles, reacquainting him with his Zimbabwean fans? That stroke of genius by a man, known for his business shrewdness and opportunism, kick started a tour which, once it was rolling, somehow found itself at The Athena, a long-abandoned venue in the East Midlands. The Athena, originally founded as an Odeon Cinema in 1936, was convinced to open its doors and there few could have known at the time, Lee had just blown a breath of new life into a venue that had been comatose for over a decade. 18 years later, Mukanya, this time flanked by Mathias Mhere and Sulumani Chimbetu, is set to make a return to The Athena under totally different circumstances.
