By Bishop Dave Chikosi
Madame Blavatsky, founder of modern Theosophy was a worshipper of satan. That is very clear from her writings. She believed that “Satan is the god of our planet, and the only god.” She also thought that Lucifer is the Holy Ghost and satan “at one and the same time.”
Mr Archibald Gandah, with whom I have exchanged views via private email for the past two weeks, does not agree with my assessment. In an article hysterically titled, “No Mr Chikosi, you are wrong!” he chides me for bringing out into the open Blavatsky’s romance with the devil.
Facts are stubborn things my friend.
But allow me, in this essay, to pivot from the purely theological to Madame Blavatsky’s equally troubling anthropogenesis. ‘Anthropogenesis’ is the study or theory of human origins and development.
Theory of human origins and development
In “The Secret Doctrine” Blavatsky writes:
“Mankind is obviously divided into god-informed men and lower human creatures. The intellectual difference between the Aryan and other civilized nations and such savages as the South Sea Islanders, is inexplicable on any other grounds. No amount of culture, nor generations of training amid civilization, could raise such human specimens as the Bushmen, the Veddhas of Ceylon, and some African tribes, to the same intellectual level as the Aryans, the Semites, and the Turanians so called. The ‘sacred spark’ is missing in them and it is they who are the only inferior races on the globe, now happily — owing to the wise adjustment of nature which ever works in that direction — fast dying out. Verily mankind is ‘of one blood,’ but not of the same essence. We are the hot-house, artificially quickened plants in nature, having in us a spark, which in them is latent” (Vol 2, pg. 421).
So according to Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (HPB), the Aryan race is intellectually superior to all other races. It possesses a sacred spark that the inferior races do not. She continues:
“Thus will mankind, race after race, perform its appointed cycle-pilgrimage. Climates will, and have already begun, to change, each tropical year after the other dropping one sub-race, but only to beget another higher race on the ascending cycle; while a series of other less favoured groups — the failures of nature — will, like some individual men, vanish from the human family without even leaving a trace behind” (Vol 2, pg. 446).
The less favored races are in reality failures of nature. Not the image and likeness of God as per Christian doctrine, but freaks of nature.
Now in today’s mainstream public discourse, this kind of language is straight up racist and therefore incendiary. Normally the purveyors of such foolish and hateful notions are quickly censured, punished and cast aside to the margins of society to socially languish with folk from the KKK and apartheid South Africa.
So tell me why we should give Madame Blavatsky a pass for her deeply offensive, heretical and incendiary race theories?
Adolf Hitler’s initiation into the secret doctrine
We were never taught this in high school, but one of Hitler’s favorite books was “The Secret Doctrine” by HPB. A British historian and author writes:
“Among the books was one that Hitler often kept by his bedside, the occult standard “The Secret Doctrine” by Madame Helen P. Blavatsky. Hitler kept a copy . . . by his bedside, ever since being introduced to its teachings by Dietrich Eckart and Karl Haushofer” (Gerald Suster, Adolf Hitler, The Occult Messiah, 1981).
Who was Dietrich Eckart? He was a leader in the Thule Society, a German secret society whose primary focus was a claim concerning the origins of the Aryan master race.
Prior to Hitler joining, the Society had been told in a séance that a “Lord Maitreya” would soon make his appearance as a German messiah to lead the Aryan race to final victory over the Jews (Joseph J. Carr, “The Twisted Cross” pg. 110).
Eckart had thus been charged with the responsibility of nurturing that messiah. For Eckart there was no question that Hitler was that Lord Maitreya.
Hitler on his part, claimed to hear voices telling him that he was “selected by God to be Germany’s messiah.” He claims to have “established communication with Lucifer, from whom he openly coveted possession” (Constance Cumbey, “Secrets of the Rainbow” pg.101).
Could this be the same Lucifer that Blavatsky wrote in such glowing terms in her book?
Hitler’s ultimate aim: racial regeneration
Eckart believed that his mission was to prepare the human vessel who would be inspired to conquer the world and lead the Aryan race to glory. Hitler saw himself as that man. This is why in 1942 Hitler stated this in private:
‘I shall have no peace of mind until I have planted a seed of Nordic blood wherever the population stand in need of regeneration”
Nordic blood? Well, according to Hitler the Nordic Germanic race was the purest branch of the original stock of the Aryans. The Aryans, according to Blavatsky, were one of the seven root races of mankind.
According to this theory, humans have evolved in seven steps, or what she calls ‘root-races’, with the Aryans being the fifth root race. The Aryans possess civilizational primacy on account of a ‘sacred spark’ that the other four root races lack.
According to one best-selling author, early theosophy was one of many sources from which the Third Reich derived its notion of das Herrenvolk (master race) and Ubermenchen (overman):
“from theosophists Hitler derived his genesis theories and the notion of a mankind as guided by superior beings, Ubermenchen (supermen), who live in remote areas of the world-such as the Gobi Desert and the Himalayan nation of Tibet (Gary Kah, “The New World Religion” pg.26).
The creation and perpetuation of a master race, composed of supermen or overmen, became an obsession of Hitler. In his own words:
“It is my ultimate aim to perform an act of creation, a divine operation, the goal of a biological mutation which will result in an unprecedented exaltation of the human race, and the appearance of a new race of heroes, demi-gods and god-men.”
But in this new master race of heroes and demi-gods, there was no place for the Jew and the African. In fact, “the Jews had brought the Negroes into the Rhineland with the clear aim of ruining the hated white race by the necessarily-resulting bastardization.”(Hitler, “Mein Kampf”)
Absurdities and atrocities
It was this myth of Aryan superiority, promoted by HPB’s Secret Doctrine, which book Hitler “often kept by his bedside”, which became the basis for ethnic cleansing of Jews as well as the sterilization of over 400 children of African descent who lived in Germany at the time.
Hitler believed in the absurd race theories of Blavatsky, Nietzsche and others. As a result he committed atrocities, for, as Voltaire once said, “If we believe absurdities we shall commit atrocities.”
