MUTARE – Urban grooves ‘bad boy’, Roki and the charismatic ‘ladies man’, Ex-Q will tonight perform in Mutare at BarCode Nightclub (Raylton Club) as they continue with their countrywide promotional tour of their latest single ‘Alleluya’.
Roki whose real name is Rockford Josphats and Ex-Q, Enock Munhenga, launched the Alleluya video in June, which was shot on high-definition and produced by Kenako Musik.
Already the video is proving to be a hit with over 70 000 views on YouTube in just two months.
The two have been embarking on a countrywide tour to promote the track whose video is beyond doubt of world-class standards and one to look out for end of year on the local Top video of the year competition.
As expected from the Chidzoka hit maker, the dance choreography is always something to look forward to and this time round Roki engaged professional dancers, with some familiar faces from the Jibilika Dance competitions.
The charismatic Ndichakutevera and Musalala hit maker, Ex-Q or Exquizite as some prefer calling him, as always also stand outs in the video adding a touch of class to the set.
The unique setting of a cave where the video was shot, in Kwekwe’s up-market nightclub King Solomon’s, shows creativity by the producers Kenako Musik who are now fast rising to popularity for producing first-class videos.
Ex-Q and Roki have worked together on a number of duets and compilation projects since the dawn of the urban grooves genre, like in the Chamhembe compilation project and on the Ndichakutevera track whose video was another trendsetter.
Early this year in January Ex-Q released two singles, ‘The way’ and ‘Pore pore’ both featuring Roki.
Roki has also been busy the past year with many collaborations and stellar videos including one with rising afro-jazz diva, Ammara Brown in the track ‘Number One.’
Spokesperson and resident DJ for BarCode Brian ‘Stylez’ Mavhiza confirmed the show and said all preparations were in place.
“All preparations are in place and the show will kick off 8pm. The Alleluya tour was in Masvingo last weekend and tonight they are in Mutare,” said DJ Stylez.
BarCode, which is one of the most popular up-market clubs in the city, has over the years hosted many prominent celebrities.
The last function early this year drew the multi-award winning, DJ Stavo of the Ingoma hit-song which features South Africa’s Shota. Manica Post
