CHINHOYI – Opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) national executive committee member Silas Matamisa has died.
In a party statement MDC-T spokesman Obert Gutu confirmed that Matamisa had passed on at the Chinhoyi Provincial hospital early this morning.
“He was suffering from diabetes and hypertension,” Gutu said of the former MDC provincial chairman for Mashonaland West.
“Mr. Matamisa was a devoted party cadre and democrat who was deeply committed to the democratic struggle. He was a fine gentleman who was well – respected and whose wise counsel and wisdom will be sorely missed,” he added.
Mourners are gathered at B3318 Gunhill in Chinhoyi.
Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
