The Zimbabwe skipper and his vice-captain Musona, along with Zimbabwe national team coach Kalisto Pasuwa, were travelling in a car that overturned on their way to the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) Village.

The vehicle was being driven by Zifa president Cuthbert Dube, who also escaped unhurt, although the car was extensively damaged. Dube lost control of the vehicle before it overturned.

Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela confirms the accident and reveals that the players, the coach and the Zifa president have not been hurt.

“There was an accident along the way to the Zifa Village but all the occupants who included captain Willard Katsande and Zifa president Cuthbert Dube have not been hurt,” Gwesela tells KickOff.com.

The travelling party were on their way to resolve a sticking issue regarding bonuses from their 2-1 African Nations Cup qualifying win over Malawi on Saturday.

The Warriors have not been paid for the win and Zifa claim they do not have the money to pay the players and have thrown the bucket to the government, whom they say should be responsible for the national team.

“We are broke and the national team is the responsibility of the government. They have pledged to assist and we hope they will fulfill that promise,” says Zifa CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze. KickOff.com
