MALAWI – Minister of Sports and Youth Development Grace Obama Chiumia has conceded that last Sunday’s boxing match involving Malawi’s Robert Kachiza and Zimbabwe’s Tinashe Mwadziwana was an embarrassment to the nation after the Malawian fainted following a rain of blows on Sunday at Lilongwe community ground.

The much anticipated bout showed signs of the Zimbabwean having an upper hand over the Malawian having hit him hard in the first round.

The home fans could only hope for change of the game in favour of the Malawian in subsequent rounds. The second round proved to be the last round of the bout when the Zimbabwean justified how good he was over the Malawian when he knocked him out after which he (Kachiza) fainted.

Obama Chiumia who was also in attendance, said that it was a moment not worth reminiscing but as a nation they still found solace in the country’s female boxer who earlier on triumphed over the American at the same venue.

In a post match interview with a local newspaper, Mwadziwana said that the Malawian was not a match for him and that he was in the wrong place at the right time. Although his words sounds arrogant, the Zimbabwean really proved that he was not a match indeed for the local boxer.

Following a rain of brawls, Kachiza could not speak to the media which was eager to learn what might have been the problem.

His condition which demanded medical attention could not allow him to do so. Malawi24.com
