Man caught redhanded raping daughter

A 45-YEAR-OLD Binga man allegedly raped his daughter for three years before his wife caught him redhanded in the act last month.

The man, who cannot be named for ethical reasons, had reportedly been having sexually abusing his daughter, 20, since 2013, right under his wife’s nose. He would threaten to kill or disown her if she told anyone, a court heard.

The man ran out of luck on April 15 when his wife found him helping himself to his daughter.

He appeared briefly before Binga Magistrate Steven Ndlovu facing five counts of rape and was remanded in custody to 19 May for commencement of trial at the Hwange Regional Court.

In his warned and cautioned statement, the man said he coveted his daughter and could not resist sleeping with her.

Bruce Maphosa prosecuting said in October, 2013, the man pounced on his daughter then aged 18 and forced her to have sexual intercourse in his wife’s absence.

He went on to have sex with her thrice that same month and would threaten to kill or disown her if she revealed the matter to anyone.

Sometime last month, the man grabbed his daughter and raped her once. Again on April 13, he also called the girl and raped her once threatening to chop off her head if she made noise or exposed him.

The man’s luck ran out when his wife stumbled on them in a compromising position on April 15.

When she inquired what was happening, her daughter opened up and narrated how her father had been raping her since 2013, threatening to chase her away from the homestead if she told anyone of the sexual abuse.

The mother made a police report leading to her husband’s arrest. The Chronicle
