In his prayer during an all night prayer for PHD Ministries women in Harare, Magaya asked God to “bless the country’s leadership” saying the Almighty was the only one with capacity to solve problems afflicting mankind.

An estimated 200 000 women attended the all night prayer.

Magaya told the Daily News that he was not worried about what interpretation people were going to give to his gesture saying it was the responsibility of every man of God to pray for the leadership of the country.

“Basically our message was to ask God to bless the country including its leadership for  Kings are installed not by their own wisdom but the will of God. It is the mandate of all well meaning men of God to pray for the country’s leaders,” said Magaya.

Magaya’s prayer comes at a time Mugabe’s critics have been blaming him for the economic and social problems their are facing.

The country’s unemployment rate is estimated to be well over 85 percent with hundreds of companies closing every month.

Critics point to 91-year-old Mugabe’s advanced age saying he no longer has the wisdom and capacity to extricate the country from the myriad challenges.

The prayer night was, as has become the tradition, attended by tens of thousands of people including international guests.

Providing entertainment was Gospel song birds were Olivia Charamba and Fungisai Zvakavapano- Mashavave who serenaded the crowd throughout the night.

Magaya also presented the women with what he termed the “Father of all anointing oils” provoking “evil spirits” into manifestation.

“We give all glory to His name Jehovah for delivering all ladies from anti-marriage spirits that were tormenting their lives all along,” shouted Magaya.

Earlier in the night, the charismatic preacher had prayed for the women pleading with God to deliver them from anti-marriage spirits he said were destroying families.

Magaya said the event was the biggest women gathering ever witnessed in the country. Daily News
