LONDON – Zimdancehall music sensation Tocky Vibes was a guest on Nehanda TV. The “Tocky Ayenda Nenyika” hit maker spoke to journalist Lance Guma ahead of a maiden performance in the United Kingdom over the weekend.
The 21 year old alongside fellow dancehall chanter Lady Squanda is performing in Leicester on Friday at the Street Life Night Club before heading to the Dunstable Leisure Centre in Luton on Saturday. Both shows start at 9pm.
Asked if he was not nervous about his first show in front of a UK audience the humble musician said he took comfort from the fact that he had come on the back of a huge demand from fans in the UK for him to perform.
In a 20-minute interview on Nehanda TV, Tocky narrated the struggles he went through to be where he is including being sent to the rural areas to look after cattle after his parents felt music was distracting him.
But he never lost faith and through the help of fellow singer Guspy Warrior he managed to be able to travel and record songs that have propelled him to recognition. Deeply religious, he paid tribute to God for blessing him.
In the interview Tocky thanked some of the people who helped him along the way, he shares his views on the negative image of the zimdancehall genre and also gives us an insight into his favourite three songs from his collection so far.
