It is understood that Tovey was admitted to a Durban Hospital after suffering three heart-attacks on Tuesday morning.

According to Sport24, it is believed that the 52 year-old had to be “repeatedly resuscitated”.

His former teammate John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu has also been in a Johannesburg for almost a month and he is said to be suffering from an unknown illness.

eNCA reported, on Tuesday, that Shoes was battling to stay alive at Charlotte Maxeke hospital.

Shoes’s mother, Reena said that the death scares that were making rounds on social media on Tuesday about his son were unfounded and hurtful.

Sports presenter Robert Marawa tweeted: John “Shoes” Moshoeu’s mom Reena has just told me that her son is “in good hands & SA must pray for him.” She’s “hurt” by all the rumours.
