Sex starved wife axes husband to death

In a spine-chilling incident which left villagers in Mawaza area under Chief Mathe in Gwanda tongue-tied, a 48-year-old woman allegedly hacked her 56-year-old husband to death with an axe following an altercation over bedroom demands.

After committing the grisly act the sex-starved woman, Evelyne Ndlovu, reportedly went on the run.

Her luck, however, ran out two weeks ago following her arrest.

Circumstances to the tragic incident are that Ndlovu had an altercation with her deceased husband Rhodes Maphosa after the later had allegedly refused to join her in bed.

It is alleged that on the fateful night Ndlovu asked Rhodes to join her in bed but the latter refused over an undisclosed reason. His refusal, however, did not go down well with Ndlovu who woke up in the middle of the night.

After waking up she sneaked out of their bedroom hut and proceeded to the kitchen hut where she took an axe which she allegedly used to savagely struck Maphosa who was fast asleep.

It is reported that Maphosa died instantly as a result of the brutal attack.

After committing the crime and in a desperate bid to conceal it, Ndlovu is alleged to have approached her neighbour Cule Mdlongwa and lied to him that her husband had been allegedly killed by an intruder.

After receiving the sad news Mdlongwa is alleged to have informed other villagers who went to Ndlovu’s homestead.

The matter was later reported to the police but Ndlovu, who knew that police investigations were going to implicate her, reportedly disappeared.

A manhunt by the police later led to her arrest two weeks ago.

For the offence Ndlovu was brought before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze facing murder charges.

She was not asked to plead. She was remanded out of custody to 27 January on free bail. B Metro
