By Nigel Pfunde

Zim dancehall sensation, Magikal was embroiled in a public brawl on Friday night at Nelson Mandela Hall inside the Exhibition Park (Harare Showgrounds) on the sidelines of Godfather Templeman’s birthday bash.

The Highfield-based musician bashed his ex-girlfriend only identified as Moleen from Warren Park with open fists.

The brawl occurred soon after Seh Calaz’s massive performance and it attracted the attention of revellers who filmed the incident backstage.

Moleen sustained a swollen face.

She, however, said she will not press assault charges against her ex-boyfriend.

“Well, I have decided not to press charges against him but I am really pissed off,” Moleen said.

“He hit me for asking for a lift from Guspy Warriors’s driver.

“He is so overprotective and last time he smashed my phone, arikuramba kurambwa,” said Moleen.

Magikal said Moleen had provoked her compelling him to apply minimum force to whip her in line.

“This whole thing is getting exaggerated,” Magikal said.

“I just disciplined her in a light way and the crowd made the situation appear as if it was something big otherwise this was a small misunderstanding.

“It’s not something one can really write home about,” said Magikal.

Misfortune seems to trail Magikal’s social life as early this year he lost his wife who passed on while giving birth.

He is, however, enjoying a purple patch in his music career where he has produced hit songs on all the ‘riddims’ he features on.

His song Muti Wemusango is one of the most requested for songs on the ‘Bodyslam riddim’. The Zimbabwe Mail
