ZBC suspends top managers

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation has instituted disciplinary proceedings against suspended CEO Happison Muchechetere and four members of his top executive management on allegations of misconduct which prejudiced the corporation of more than seven million dollars.

The four include General Manager Finance Elliot Kasu, acting CEO Allan Chiweshe, General Manager News and Current affairs Tazzen Mandizvidza and Head Finance Ralph Nyambudzi.

ZBC board has set up a hearing tribunal chaired by Retired Judge Justice James De Vitte while advocate Mazonde, I Murewa and Ms Magundani of Scanlen and Holderness have been engaged to handle the proceedings on behalf of the broadcaster.

The measures follows finalisation of forensic audit report by KPMG Chartered accounts which revealed that Muchechetere allegedly profited in excess of 3,5 million dollars through abuse of office from January 1 2009 until December 31 2013.

In a statement ZBC board chairperson Father Munyoro said Muchechetere was a collusive leader and partner in the fraud and said all those who will be be found wanting will be brought to account.

Acting head of finance and corporate services Patrick Mavhura has been appointed acting Chief Executive Officer and head of radio services Chris Chivinge has been appointed acting general manager news and current affairs with immediate effect. The Zimbabwe Mail
