SOUTH AFRICA – Convicted killer Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye has been found not guilty of murder after his conviction was overturned.

eNCA reports via Twitter that the Judges reversed the murder and attempted murder convictions of Jub Jub and co-accused.
The charges were replaced with culpable homicide
The report says: “Judge finds that there can be no suggestion that Jub Jub and co-accused could have foresight at time of accident because they were on drugs.”
“Judge replaces Jub Jub and co-accused 25-year sentence with effective 8 years in jail.”
Maarohanye and his co-accused, Themba Tshabalala, filed an application to appeal the conviction and sentence handed down by Protea Court Magistrate Brian Nemavhidi.
The duo were found guilty of murder, attempted murder, driving under the influence of drugs and racing on a public road in October 2012.
They duo had crashed into a group of Soweto schoolchildren in 2010, killing four boys and leaving two other schoolchildren with permanent brain damage.
They were sentenced to 25 years in prison for four counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, after they crashed into a group of children while drag racing. The matter will be heard on 12 June 2014. eNCA
