HARARE – Black Rhinos have fired coach Arthur Tutani after continued struggles on the field and far too many negative issues off it.

With the season at the halfway mark, Black Rhinos are sitting third from bottom, having managed four wins, three draws and eight defeats.

Veteran coach Jostein Mathuthu has been thrust in the dugout and will be assisted by the club’s former midfielder Gift Kamuriwo and former goalkeeper Brito Gwere.

Club secretary general Amos Svovanapasi yesterday confirmed to the Daily News that Tutani has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

“The results have not been coming. We are hoping the new technical team will turn around the fortunes of the club. We needed to act whilst there is still time. We are only at the half of the season and we have good chances of climbing up the table,” he said.

Insiders however revealed to the Daily News that relationships between Tutani and his bosses hit rock bottom when he prematurely announced his resignation earlier in May.

Tutani sensationally announced that he was stepping down as Black Rhinos coach following the army side’s 3-1 loss to Harare City in a Castle Premiership match.

But the Rhinos executive convinced the former Sporting Lions and Mwana Africa coach to reverse his decision and pledged their support to his technical team.

Tutani, the sources said, has been working under increasing pressure from the executive, which is being accused of soiling the working environment.

In his last five matches Tutani managed two draws, two defeats and one win. Daily News
