Cindy Munyavi and Clare Nyakujara, the organisers of the monthly gig, believe the masquerade party will take the Kumabhebhi initiative to new heights.

“We are always thinking of new ideas that have never been done before so that we attract people,” Nyakujara told the Daily News yesterday.

“You can’t just hold an ordinary show and expect people to come through; there has to be something unique about the show.

According to Nyakujara popular jazz artiste and ZiFM radio personality Patience Musa will be the guest DJ at the event where the revellers will be required to wear masks and colourful costumes.

“It is a smart gig; it is about dressing up. People can buy their own masks or get one at the door. Entrance is $10 for the standard seats and $20 for VIP which includes a meal.”
Nyakujara, however, conceded that the two-year old Kumabhebhi initiative was being blighted by lack of resources.

“Right now we have been doing it as funds come in. It is supposed to be a monthly gig but we have been forced to skip other months,” she said.

“There is no money coming in; companies are not giving money. Those who are helping cannot help with money. Instead they offer other goods which we are grateful for, but at times you need money.” Daily News
