WHERE is Knowledge Musona going? That’s the question on everyone’s lips, and was the case even when the Zimbabwean striker was still part of the Kaizer Chiefs squad during his loan spell from German club Hoffenheim last season.

Chiefs travel to Port Elizabeth this week for the second phase of their pre-season training and coach Stuart Baxter, having already signed Siphelele Mthembu in anticipation that Musona might depart, is still keen to keep the man nicknamed the “Smiling Assassin”.
“We had hoped to finalise this [Musona’s future] last week, but that hasn’t happened. The team leaves for PE soon and will only return to Johannesburg a few days before the Carling Cup pre-season match against Orlando Pirates and we need to know who is staying and who is going,” said football manager Bobby Motaung.
“His agent had mentioned an offer from Saudi Arabia, but I think it has fallen through because if it was going to materialise, I would have heard about it by now. Musona has fully recovered from his injury and is eager to know about his next move.”
Musona, who scored 15 goals in 29 games for Chiefs in his second spell, suffered an ankle injury that ended his season earlier than expected when he was substituted in the first half of the club’s CAF Champions League clash against AS Vita in March.
Before then, the goal ace had long publicly made clear his intentions to return to Europe. But the fact that his future is still in limbo suggests Hoffenheim aren’t desperate to see him return.
The German Bundesliga side have reportedly asked Chiefs to fork out R10-million if they want to retain his services permanently.
