Mapfumo, Jah Prayzah London show postponed

Y2K promotions postponed the Southern Africa Music and Arts (Sama) festival that was supposed to feature Zimbabwean contemporary musician Jah Prayzah, Afro-Jazz sensation Prince Musarurwa and Chimurenga guru Thomas Mapfumo.

The trio were billed to perform at the two-day festival over the weekend in London, but the festival organisers, who are also based in the United Kingdom, have moved the concert to October.

The festival was supposed to have been held at The Royal Regency in London on Saturday and Maher Centre in Leicester yesterday.

Last week, Y2K announced they had postponed the event to October 17 and 18 with the same line-up.

Y2K promotions apologised for the change of dates on social network Facebook.

Musarurwa, however, told NewsDay that he is going to keep on rehearsing for the show.

“We have been advised that the Sama Festival tour will now be staged in October. It is not that far, so we are going to keep on rehearsing for the tour,” Musarurwa said.

Blessing Vava, Chimurenga Music Company publicist yesterday also apologised for the inconvenience.

“In the interest of our fans and the music industry Chimurenga Music Company and Y2K Promotions we apologise for the inconvenience that may have been caused by the change of dates,” Vava said.

Meanwhile in Harare, Jah Prayzah performed at a well attended birthday bash at Big Apple, with fans packing the venue at the weekend.

His performance was nothing less than spectacular as he had the fans dancing the night away. NewsDay
