Someone send Sekai Holland for retirement please!

Must Try

The MDC leadership wrangle has had more than enough share of drama and clowning characters, mainly in the rebel group led by Tendai Biti – it didn’t want more from, least of all, Sekai Holland.

The chair of the MDC’s guardian council is either a doddering clown, pathetic hypocrite, or both.

For Holland to emerge yesterday and claim that she was forced to read a statement on Thursday makes her an urgent candidate for a mental hospital, not even very far in Singapore, but at Ngomahuru here in Zimbabwe.

Just how an over 70 year old veteran politician would want the world to believe such claims, simply re-emphasizes the depth of sickness, controversy and hypocrisy we have been witnessing in the Biti rebellion.

I have said before, that the MDC occupies a key position in national politics, and its matters are not jokes nor kids’ play.

Holland is lying that on Thursday any force of pressure would have led her to appear before a crop of journalists and read what wasn’t her will. Further going on to answer questions, consistently with the statement?

I can’t imagine how her and 23 other elderly politicians could be outwitted by MDC spokesman Douglas Mwonzora and a few others in such a manner – as she is trying to imply. Her claims of fear for ‘many’ youths she alleges had come to the venue, are as silly as every other antic she is trying.

An old woman of principle would have simply stood firm and even called in police about the planned violence she now claims to have been ‘warned’ in advance. We all know that police would have salivated at that, with interested journalists on tow, for massive headlines about the ‘violence’ plans.

But no, Holland is just lying and the answer is not difficult to find.

In her new statement she totally leaves out any mention of the rebels’ Mandel meeting and its resolutions, effectively baking herself into a cul-de-sac.

Because, she now implies that the guardian council is quiet about Biti’s claims that the MDC was put under the council’s interim leadership, after the purported disbanding of the Morgan Tsvangirai leadership, at the bogus Mandel meeting.

Yet, the same Holland was yesterday referring to Tsvangirai as ‘president’.

Or, she wants now to pretend that Mandel never happened, yet is was one of main items on the guardian council’s agenda, as confirmed by her colleagues.

It leaves everything clearly showing that Holland also has some hidden fish frying about the whole saga, and, like the Biti crew, l am sure she can’t face the MDC supporters with her farcical antics.

It helps us, finally, to understand why she had remained quiet about her alleged involvement in the rebellion for almost a month. She has just proved her complicity and dirty tricks.

Like l have said about Tendai Biti, Holland is entitled to making her choice and political decisions, but she must take others seriously and stop thinking that the world is made of fools only.

In fact, she must be helped and taken into retirement before, like Robert Mugabe, she totally destroys her legacy after long service in human rights work and politics.
