It seems violence is the order of the day at Zim dancehall gigs.

No Zim-dancehall gig has been violent-free so far with fans hurling beer cans and stones while artists are performing on stage.

And in what is believed to be the worst in this genre, rising chanter Qounfuzed- real name Mcdonald Sheldon- attacked fellow artist Seh Calaz at Harare gardens at the back stage early Sunday morning during the Soul Jah Love and Bounty Lisa’s engagement party.

Qounfuzed is alleged to have pounced on Calaz while he was leaving stage and gave him a good share of fists.

The reasons of the attack were best known to the former.

The scene turned chaotic after Qounfuzed jumped into a car trying to flee before his car was blocked by Calaz’s fans who intended to mete instant justice on him.

The artist was saved by police details who intervened and immediately arrested him.

Qounfuzed was still in police custody by Monday as the matter was still under investigations.

Other reports, however, suggest that he is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

The matter was reported under case number IR040498 at Harare Central Police station.

Calaz finished his performance in the wee hours of Sunday morning and was unfortunate to be freshened up by a string of blows.

His manager Godfrey Bakasa described Qounfuzed’s attack as confused and barbaric.

“We don’t know the reason for the attack,” he said.

“He is the one who writes ‘diss’ songs against us and we don’t respond. We should have reacted but we are professionals and we don’t engage in war with fellow artists.

“This is not good for Zim Dancehall and we hope the law will be applied on such people,” he added.

He added: “Right now Seh Calaz’s teeth are shaking after the attack and can’t even talk properly.” Event coordinator Biggie Chinoperekwei said violence is not tolerated.

“This is not good and I was disturbed when I heard about the incident. We don’t tolerate such behaviour and we urge our artists to be united and shun that behaviour.

“I did not witness the incident but I trust the law enforcers will do their duty,” he said. H Metro
