Farai Machabaiwa of 17913 Zengeza Extension took his three children and told them that they were no longer going to be with him for he was killing himself. He then withdrew a CZ Pistol forcing the children to run away.

One of the kids made a police report at Zengeza police base and they quickly responded by deploying armed police officers from St Mary’s to the scene but they failed to arrest Farai who fled the scene threatening to shoot the police officers.

Farai was later arrested in Marondera on Saturday where he was disarmed and handed over to St Mary’s police station. Officer in charge St Mary’s Inspector Badza confirmed the arrest.

“We arrested a man who was found with an unlicensed pistol after he threatened to shoot himself and we fined and released him,” said Inspector Badza.

When journalists arrived at the scene riot police were present and the children were still in shock as they narrated how Farai came with an unidentified woman he had an altercation with on Thursday.

“Dad came home last night accompanied by a woman and they were quarrelling before they left together,” said one of the children.

“He came back this morning and started telling us that we would not see him again for he was going to die. He pulled his gun from his pocket and we ran away and I made a police report. Our mother is a nurse at a rural hospital and is not around,” said the child.
